|Media Release: Public invited to help shape county land use regulations related to housing; online survey opening extended through Jan. 18|
|Clackamas County, like many other regions across the country, doesn’t have enough housing – and housing that people can afford – to meet the needs of its residents. One way we are working to resolve this challenge is to amend our land use regulations so there are more housing options.|
We invite you to learn more about and comment on options under consideration by taking an online survey. County Planning staff will use these results to develop updated land use regulations. The survey is available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CCHousing through Jan. 18.
By making sure land use and zoning regulations allow for different types of housing – apartments, manufactured homes, single-family homes, townhouses, etc. – land use regulations can support more housing development. Several potential strategies are under consideration for unincorporated Clackamas County. This land use work is being done in three phases, beginning in urban unincorporated areas.
Phase 1 – under way now – focuses on multi-family housing – such as apartments and condos – and housing density in commercial zones. Parking requirements for multifamily developments and bonuses for developers who build affordable housing are also under consideration. Later phases will focus on changes in land use regulations for housing in residential zones.
