Run for a Board Position!
Community Planning Organization Member
CPO Board members are notified about land use plans in the area. Responsibilities include reviewing applications, presenting written or in-person comments to the County Planning Department, disseminating information to the community about proposed projects and applications. CPO members attend the Hamlet meeting the 2nd Tuesday of each month.

Needed Volunteers: 2-4
Estimated Commitment: 4-6 hours per month.

Family Fest & Events
We put on the Family Fest in September of every year (non-pandemic). Many volunteers are needed to help plan and carry out the event. In addition, we have Town Hall and other events where volunteers could be a big help. Responsibilities might include: set up, break down, purchasing refreshments (for reimbursement), organizing volunteers, etc.

Needed Volunteers: 10
Time Commitment: Varies. 3-4 hours per month.
Amount of Distancing: Depends on the task and event.
Tualatin Council Liaison
This volunteer will attend (virtually or in person) the Tualatin City Council meetings and work sessions. The purpose is to listen for any information that is pertinent to or affects the Hamlet. Agendas are published ahead of time, and you can scan for any agenda item that might pertain to the Hamlet. The volunteer will occasionally be asked to speak or submit comments on behalf of the Hamlet.

Needed Volunteers: 1-2
Time Commitment: 1-4 hours per week (can be split between two volunteers). City Council meets 2nd and 4th Tuesday at 7pm. Work session at 5pm prior to Council meeting.
Amount of Distancing: This volunteer job can be done by watching the livestream (or replay) of the City Council work session and council meeting. When in-person meetings are held again, this is an option as well.
West Linn Council Liaison
This volunteer will attend (virtually or in person) the West Linn City Council meetings and work sessions. The purpose is to listen for any information that is pertinent to or affects the Hamlet. Agendas are published ahead of time, and you can scan for any agenda item that might pertain to the Hamlet. The volunteer will occasionally be asked to speak or submit comments on behalf of the Hamlet.

Lake Oswego Council Liaison
This volunteer will attend (virtually or in person) the Lake Oswego City Council meetings and work sessions. The purpose is to listen for any information that is pertinent to or affects the Hamlet. Agendas are published ahead of time, and you can scan for any agenda item that might pertain to the Hamlet. The volunteer will occasionally be asked to speak or submit comments on behalf of the Hamlet.

Be Your Neighborhood Captain
Student Representative
A local high school student who will attend Hamlet Board and community meetings with an ear toward the youth perspective. Volunteer is invited to provide feedback during the Board meeting about ways we might engage younger residents. Student will choose one of the committees to join and offer assistance as needed.

Needed Volunteers: 1
Time Commitment: 2 hours per month. Board meetings take place once a month on the 2nd Tuesday of the month.
Amount of Distancing: This volunteer job can be done by attending the Zoom meeting (as available). When in-person meetings are held again, you'll attend in person.
Website Assistance
Occasionally update the Hamlet website with direction from the Communications Committee. Volunteer must know WordPress.

Time Commitment: 3-4 hours per month.
Amount of Distancing: 100% remote.
Newsletter Production
Create and send a semi-monthly newsletter on behalf of the Hamlet. Information and direction would be provided to the volunteer. Volunteer must know MailChimp.

Social Media
This volunteer will use Instagram and Facebook to post relevant information and community messages. We will train and advise.

Communications Committee
Join the existing Communications Committee to work on communications projects for the Hamlet.

: 3-4 hours per month
Amount of Distancing: Meetings (when possible) will be in person. For the foreseeable future, they will be remote.
WLWV School District Liaison
This volunteer will attend (virtually or in person) the WLWV School Board meetings and work sessions. The purpose is to listen for any information that is pertinent to or affects the Hamlet. The volunteer will occasionally be asked to speak or submit comments on behalf of the Hamlet.

Needed Volunteers: 1-2
Time Commitment: 3-4 hours per month (task can alternate between two volunteers). Board meetings take place once a month.
Amount of Distancing: This volunteer job can be done by watching the livestream (as available) of the Board meeting. When in-person meetings are held again, this is an option as well.

Serve on the Board

Board members meet once a month for 2 to 3 hours for community meetings. Elected term starts in January and lasts for 2 years. Elections typically take place in December. Member must live in or own property within the Hamlet boundaries. Can be a homeowner, property owner, or renter. A diverse Board is our goal, and we welcome all applicants who want to serve their community.

Board Makeup:

  • Over 5 acres – 3 positions
  • Under 5 acres – 3 positions
  • At large – 4 positions

Responsibilities include:

  • Monthly Board meeting the 2nd Tuesday of the month from 7-9pm (we typically have a break in July/August)
  • Serve on a committee, depending on interest and availability.
  • Assist with special projects. For example, forums to engage and listen to our community.
  • Participate in Family Fest planning and/or event.

Estimated Commitment: 8-10 hours per month.
