Beavers on Pecan Creek,
Pecan Creek and a new Beaver family
What to do, Oh, what to do?
Do we Trap ‘em and remove ‘em
Make beaver slippers or eat beaver stew?
123 years of family stewardship
On 1st people’s land up from Waluga Bay.
We felt the beaver family
Had a God Given right to stay.
They started by slowly improving
the creek that was nearly dry,
Through their eager beaver work
Though they used limbs and branches
To build their dams and also dine
Decided it might be real delicious
to sample our wine grape growing vines
Who on earth could help us
To Co-exist with our new-found friends
We called The Beaver Coalition for assistance
And great knowledge they did lend.
They provided a management system
A solar electric fence that’s oh so dandy
The beavers learned in a few quick days
Our vines were not their Vegetative Candy
House Bill for beaver legislation
That can be our beaver fix
To help secure a brighter future
Keeping eco-friendly beavers in the mix
Our state symbol should be protected
Should be honored in the law
So future generation can appreciate
What our State Legislators foresaw
Helping eco-friendly beavers
Our family mission, that is true
Better than the other options
